Sponsorship & Disclosure

Confronting Unknowns is an independent publication about decision-making under uncertainty, complexity science, risk analysis. This page describes how we fund the work and how we keep editorial independence intact.

Editorial independence

Sponsors never influence what we publish. We don't show posts to advertisers before publication. We don't accept edits to editorial copy. If a sponsor asks for changes to a post, the answer is no — and we'd rather lose the placement than the trust of our readers.

How ads are labeled

Every sponsored placement on this site carries a visible "Sponsored" label and renders inside an <aside> element with aria-label="Sponsored content" so it's machine-readable for assistive tech and search crawlers. All sponsor links use rel="sponsored noopener nofollow" per Google's link attribution guidance.

Where sponsor content appears

  • No sponsored placements are currently live on this site.

Provider

This site uses None to source its sponsor content. Direct sponsorships mean sponsors are vetted and onboarded individually by the editor — there's no programmatic auction and no third-party tracking pixels.

Interested in sponsoring?

We're selective. If your product is a genuine fit for the decision-making under uncertainty, complexity science, risk analysis audience and you want to support independent writing, email hello@confrontingunknowns.com with a short pitch.

Affiliate disclosure

Where we include affiliate links (currently rare), we mark them with the same rel="sponsored" attribute so there's no ambiguity. If we ever take a commission on a product mention, the post says so explicitly.
